Our geometry, fraction, multiplication, and division units have been so much fun! Once the students have learned these concepts, I smell spring in the air which leads quickly to the end of school. Incredible. Much to do yet, so we are flying...at full speed.
We've begun Literature Circles, which is like book groups, and are enjoying the change during Reader's Workshop. Each student chooses 3 books he'd/she'd like to read among those offered. Then the students are placed in a group reading the same book. They are assigned a certain number of pages a day, along with a job they prepare and bring to the circle. Each day the students will meet with their group to discuss the book and share their jobs--Discussion Director, Passage Picker, Word Finder, Artful Artist, Connector, Quilled Questioner.
Because there's yet much to cover in science, and because there is no science on Mondays due to early-out, I am cutting Reader's Workshop that day and replacing it with science. Monitor-and-adjust...
Thank you for responding to the missing assignments printout. The end of the term is March 25th, so this will give the students enough time to make sure everything is turned in. Skyward can be accessed for more information on your child's grades, assignments, etc. For those that are missing Reading Response Journal assignments, those are time-sensitive, but I will have available some comprehension worksheets for those who would like to make up those assignments.
Thanks!!
